Hebert is a Professor of Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph and a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Biodiversity. Hebert is the founder and Director of the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics and coordinates its linkages with the International Barcode of Life Consortium. Hebert first developed DNA barcoding, and his scientific publications have received over 100K citations. 

Hollingsworth is Director of Science and Deputy Keeper at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. He is also an Honorary Professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Visiting Professor of the University of Edinburgh, and a Visiting Professor of the University of Johannesburg.

Ratnasingham is a bioinformatician with two decades of experience leading innovative informatics projects in the research and commercial sectors. He is the chief architect of the BOLD (Barcode of Life Data Systems) and mBRAVE (Multiplex Barcode Research and Visualization Environment) data platforms, launched in 2005 and 2017. He designed and developed the BIN (Barcode Index Number) framework, a machine learning system to accelerate the registration of biodiversity.

Ken is a biodiversity scientist with a PhD from The University of British Columbia and completed post-doctoral work at Stanford University. He is the project coordinator for ONTOLOGY and works with all team members to advance the project’s goals and catalyze synergy between the various components.
