The Secretariat of the International Barcode of Life Consortium is based at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics in Guelph, Canada.

How to Join

Membership in iBOL is open to all organizations with the capacity to contribute to our scientific mission. In each country, a member organization is responsible for coordinating iBOL activities. Current lead organizations include government agencies, natural history museums, research centres, and universities.

Member nations are comprised of in-country networks of researchers and organizations that are engaged in DNA barcoding. Members participate in iBOL Consortium activities including and major research programs. iBOL is the sum of its members and each member plays an instrumental role in capacity building and setting priorities for barcoding in their region.
There is an annual membership fee of $5,000 CAD per representative. Most funds are used to cover expenses forĀ  national representatives to participate in the annual meeting of the Science Committee. Any balance is used to publicize the accomplishments of the project.
Associate Memberships (no cost) are open to nations making in-kind contributions to sustain their ongoing participation.
