Barcode of Life Blog report
Species boundaries of Venus clams are difficult or even impossible to define accurately based solely on morphologic features, according to a research team from College of Fisheries at the Ocean University of China.
The Barcode of Life Blog reports on the largest ever analysis of DNA barcodes for marine bivalves, during which the researchers conducted a "taxonomy distentanglement" on 315 specimens of Venerida representing about 60 species collected along the coast of mainland China.
