Supporting the global effort
The International Barcode of Life (iBOL) project is the largest, most comprehensive biodiversity genomics program ever undertaken.
Initiated through Genome Canada's flagship International Consortium Initiative (ICI) program, iBOL is supported by a very large number of funding organizations, biological resource collections and a diverse assemblage of researchers from around the world.
This page acknowledges funders that have contributed more than $100,000 (CAD equivalent) to support the participating nations and scientific objectives of the project.
Because iBOL has also benefited from access to specimens held by many natural history collections, this page includes a list of those that have contributed at least 5,000 specimens for barcode analysis.
While access to funding and specimens has been critical, iBOL's progress also reflects the scientific involvements of more than 1,000 researchers, without whom the project would not be possible.
