From this simple molecule has grown a formidable movement. One that has transformed the way in which researchers, educators, and innovators use DNA and DNA-based technologies to understand, survey, and connect with species \u2013 the building blocks of biodiversity.<\/p>\n To inform, unite, and strengthen the movement\u2019s budding global community, a print newsletter, the Barcode Bulletin,<\/em> was established in 2010 by the International Barcode of Life (iBOL) Consortium<\/a><\/strong>. While at the core of this community\u2019s research is an innate inquisitiveness to understand how and why we exist on this planet with such a diverse array of life, the current global crisis requires more from us. Biodiversity researchers need to actively inform decisions and build greater awareness to help tackle the challenges facing the health and long-term sustainability of our environment.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ text_font_size=”15px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n \u00a025 issues later, we have reimagined the Barcode Bulletin<\/em>\u2019s potential. After a short hiatus to gather the momentum needed to initiate iBOL\u2019s next research program BIOSCAN<\/a><\/strong>, we are proud to relaunch the Barcode Bulletin<\/em> as an editorially-independent online publication with the aim of promoting public understanding of DNA barcoding and its diverse\u00a0applications. Society is not going to understand biodiversity science and the importance of species without compelling stories and the provocative questions behind the research. So, most importantly, we aim to blend the complexities of science with captivating storytelling to inspire society to create the changes needed to understand biodiversity and our role in it.<\/p>\n We are committed to sharing scientific\u00a0stories from around the world and showcasing diverse perspectives and knowledges from a range of voices, in a range of forms \u2013 from articles to interviews to videos and photo stories \u2013 to garner a greater awareness for the importance of biodiversity.<\/p>\n Our vision? Illuminating the science, stories, and people driving DNA barcoding research to strengthen the DNA\u00a0barcoding community, facilitate\u00a0knowledge-sharing amongst scientists and society,
