Biodiversity

To save a living planet

science at its foundation.
an intrinsic connection to nature at its heart.

The international barcode of life

is enabling humanity to protect all life,
including our own.

we can read life on our planet

Imagine a world with biodiversity

identification at your fingertips

Our Plans

iBOL will establish a global biomonitoring system that will track ecosystems and reveal symbiomes while completing the inventory of life before the middle of this century by completing three projects:

BARCODE 500K

BIOSCAN

PLANETARY BIODIVERSITY MISSION

BIOSCAN

The 2nd iBOL PROJECT

2019 – 2025

BIOSCAN will allow us to forecast changes in biodiversity in response to anthropogenic drivers as well as deepen our understanding of species interactions by probing the symbiome, that is, the array of mitochondrial sequences recovered from a specimen indicative of the species associated with it.
